“Well, how’d you do?” I question, nervously approaching the girls as they make their way out of the lecture hall.

The whole gang is there, and I immediately notice the forlorn looks across their faces. My breath catches in my throat.

“Oh my god,” I say, “what happened?”

Mandy is shaking her head now, her gaze planted firmly down at the brick walkway below her. “I can’t believe it,” she murmurs, repeating the words over and over again.

“Can’t believe what?” I prod. “Can’t believe what?”

Slowly, Mandy begins to look up, her chin lifting more and more until finally I can see the wide smile that he’s been so carefully hiding from me. “I can’t believe we actually passed!” she says.

A wave of relief washes over me, nearly bowling me over right then and there as the group of us all come together for a hug.

“I’m so proud of you girls,” I finally tell them when we pull apart.

“Well, we couldn’t have done it without you,” Mandy assures me.

Suddenly, a grin begins to slowly work its way out across my face. “How do you want to celebrate?” I ask them. “Just because class is over doesn’t mean that the studying has to stop.”
